Hello all, it’s gotten quite cold here in Seoul, and we are happy to announce despite the recent setbacks, we are back on track.

Token Distribution Status

Distribution Schedule
3,674 users received their tokens out of 8,538 total participants. We’ve distributed 65.7% as of today, which leaves 34.3% remaining to distribute. We will continue to accept token distribution requests, and process the transfers twice a week, but requests have been diminishing somewhat.

For those who have not yet claimed your tokens, please do so as soon as possible. A lot of people with a small bounty have not yet claimed their tokens and we have sent out e-mails as a reminder, but many are not claiming. Mind you, we are not planning to hold them for you indefinitely.

Keep your Secret Seed safe!
We cannot stress this enough. Warnings have been issued everywhere, previous newsletters, in the claim guide, even when you generate your Public Address, but still we received a few reports of tokens being stolen and in every instance, there was one thing in common – Secret Seed being compromised. Do not let your Secret Seed be shown anywhere to anybody, especially to those who claim they are part of the BOScoin team. We NEVER ask for your Secret Seed. If you feel uncomfortable saving your Secret Seed into your computer, save it so that you need to make some modifications only you may know, for example, replace the last letter to another letter only you can remember. We strongly advise you not to even enter your Secret Seed into anywhere apart from your web-wallet. If you feel your Secret Seed has been compromised in any way, don’t risk it. Create another Public Address and move your tokens immediately!

Trust Engineering Research Center
We are currently in preparation of setting up “Trust Engineering Research Center”. The Trust Engineering Research Center will study related theories behind blockchain, then find and analyze ways to implement its findings to build a “trustless”, and thus a more transparent and efficient society. Studies will be conducted not only on blockchain but also in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Smart Contracts and Privacy. Although the Trust Engineering Research Center is not directly involved with development of the platform, it is an affiliate of the BOS Platform Foundation and will serve as a think tank on which direction development will head at later stages. It is just the beginning of the beginning of a long term project and we hope the research center will steer BOS Platform in the right direction!

Have You Met… Myungsan Jun?

Myungsan Jun is currently in charge of Communications and Business Development. He is also in charge of other individual projects that will be on the BOS Platform later on and although he is not a developer himself, he nonetheless has ample knowledge and enthusiasm towards blockchain.

Background
Myungsan graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in Sociology and has been in the IT industry ever since. Having worked in different projects for Mediamob, SK Communications and other various startups, Myungsan bring over 20 years of experience into the development of BOScoin. One of the most notable experiences is his contribution in building the very first mass social networking service platform in the world called Cyworld, which had been tremendously successful in Korea. In 2012, he published his first book, titled “From State to Village” which analyzed the communication structure of the 21st century. This book was selected as one of “The Best Book in General Studies” in 2012 by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Korea. Myungsan also writes regularly to magazines and newspapers regarding IT and the social aspects of technology. This year he published his second book called “Blockchain Government”, which investigates the relationship between the government and blockchain. He is currently working on this book getting translated from Korean into English but is feeling the pressure without getting much done. He hopes to finish it by early next year.

Interests
Myungsan’s vision is to explore the potential of blockchain to its fullest extent. He wishes to see cities and nations running on blockchain one day as well as a new social infrastructure based on peer-to-peer network which will be more democratic and more decentralized.

Random Interesting Fact
Myungsan’s long unpracticed hobby is brewing. He likes to make not only beer, but also wine and makgeolli, a Korean traditional raw rice wine. Myungsan would love to serve you all a supposedly excellent taste of his brew.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

On Friday, November 10, 2017, there was a temporary failure of the BOScoin network causing the blockchain consensus logic to fail. This was announced ( https://medium.com/@boscoin/bos-platform-foundation-announcement-fdd66d479f7c ) and we recovered the blockchain to the last prior stable state, which included all balances, but did not include any transaction history. On Friday, November 17, 2017, we issued this announcement ( https://medium.com/@boscoin/bos-platform-foundation-announcement-fef1cab6aa30 ) notifying the community there was an issue with the manual transfer of transaction fees to public addresses via a script which began processing at 12:25 GMT, 17 Nov 2017 and was halted at 15:04 GMT. This error was caused by a misplaced decimal in the code, which resulted in the distribution of 34 Million BOS to 1418 public addresses. The CTO and other senior management have evaluated the situation, and have decided on the following course of action.

All public addresses will be reset to a token balance that includes all transfers conducted prior to the online wallet going off line at 15:04 GMT, but will NOT include the transaction fees transferred by the script in error. There will NOT be transaction history after the blockchain is reset. This solution will negate the faulty transaction fees transferred by the script, while at the same time keeping any transfers between public addresses prior to the online wallet being put into maintenance mode. The online wallet ( https://wallet.boscoin.io ) will be back online by 15:00 GMT 21 Nov 2017.

We sincerely apologize for the complications caused for two consecutive weeks. The first error was due to a problem with the code and the second one was clearly a human error. Our development team will improve the code reviewing process as well as testings prior to the actual implementation of the code. We promise such mistakes will not be made again in the future.

Singapore Trip 13-17 Nov

Last week we participated in the Singapore Fintech Festival and checked out the international atmosphere surrounding Fintech, especially in the Blockchain scene. We had a few prearranged meetings with potential partners and the Fintech Festival wasn’t the main reason why we went to Singapore but it was nice to go out of South Korea and see how fast the industry is moving forward. We also participated in the Inclusive Blockchain Conference hosted by Singapore University of Social Sciences where Vitalik Buterin also had a brief session. Other prominent figures such as Toby Hoenisch from TenX, Los Luu from Kyber, Bobby Ong from Coingecko, Joseph Lubin from ConsenSys and Patrick Dai from Qtum also participated as panelists. Although we did not have a speaking session, it was good to see and learn the challenges others are facing as well. The main reason to go all the way out to Singapore was to see our potential partners and the business they are conducting and we are pleased with some of the progresses we have made. The most progress came from payment and security companies but as some of you may realize by now, we only publicize what is certain so we will update the community in the near future regarding any potential partnerships that may come from this conference.

BOSnet Protocol Developement
The mFBA protocol for BOSnet (M3 Genesis) is under development in a private repository. The BOSnet mFBA concensus protocol will not be a continuation of our current TokenNet concensus protocol, but instead is the realization of Yezune Choi’s vision for the BOSnet platform written from scratch by our development team. The BOSnet mFBA protocol is undergoing testing and development.

Have You Met…Eunseong Kang

Eunseong Kang is our new Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). He comes to us with many years of senior information security experiance.

Background
Eunseong has been working in IT for 30 years. He’s worked on security consulting and education, and also as a technical advisor for product security at LG Electronics. Prior to that, he worked as a CISO for an Internet company and as the head of R&D at the largest security company in Korea.

Interests
His interests include protecting the performance and value of colleagues above all. For the time being, all his attention and effort is placed into helping his colleagues.

Dear Coinbase customer,
There have been a number of developments with Bitcoin Segwit2x since our last update. No action is required and all funds stored on Coinbase remain safe.
Last week, the Segwit2x development team announced they would no longer continue with the project. In addition, a significant portion of miners and other community leaders withdrew their support for the fork. However, despite these developments, a small number of miners may attempt to go forward with a fork.
We wanted to provide clarity about the potential outcomes of the fork and what Coinbase will do in each scenario.
To protect customer funds, Coinbase will disable Bitcoin sends and receives at 2 am Pacific Time on November 17th, and disable buys and sells an hour before the fork, which is currently predicted to occur between 6am to 8am Pacific Time on November 17th. All functionality will be re-enabled shortly afterwards.
Scenario 1: Network is unusable
If support for the fork remains at current levels or decreases, the Bitcoin2x network will be unusable. Coinbase will not support withdrawals or trading as it will not be possible to move these assets. Currently we believe this is the most likely scenario.
If the network gains support at a later date, we will enable Bitcoin2x withdrawals from the platform.
Scenario 2: Network is usable
If transactions are being confirmed at a reasonable speed and miner support is strong, we will allow Coinbase customers to withdraw Bitcoin2x. We will not immediately enable buys and sells as previously stated, but we may enable them at a later date.

Common mistakes in claiming BOScoins
There have been several important mistakes made by participants in claiming their BOScoins. I’d like to review these, and if you have any questions about your account, then please contact us at [email protected].

You sent a public address that is invalid.
The public address is 56 characters long, please ensure you copied and pasted the entire string of 56 characters, there will only be 56 characters – no more and no less.

The public address is sent to the wrong email address.
The correct email address is [email protected], if you send to the wrong email address then your information can’t be verified until you send to the correct email address.

You sent multiple public addresses.
You should only send one public address, if we receive multiple public addresses then we do not know which public address should receive the tokens, and this will require additional confirmation before sending your tokens.

You sent a telegram message as a “Secret Chat.”
You should NOT send the public address and email address through “Secret Chat” on telegram, we will not receive these messages.

You sent to the wrong telegram account.
There is only one telegram account monitored by our team, the correct username for our only telegram account is @BOS_tokennet, there are several telegram accounts with similar usernames, do not be fooled. Check the username to ensure it is @BOS_tokennet (BOS is capitalized, and there are 2 ‘n’ in the username).

Additional Warnings

Our team will NOT message you on telegram to confirm your transaction. If you receive a confirmation message on telegram it is a fake BOScoin account.
Our team will NEVER ask for your Secret Seed, we only need a public address and a valid email address to transfer your funds.
SAVE YOUR SECRET SEED! There is only one way to access your BOScoin wallet, by using a valid Secret Seed. We do not have access to your account, if you loose your Secret Seed, you will loose access to your coins forever.
The wallet is designed to not open until you have at least 0.1 BOS deposited in the wallet. When you first create a wallet, the public address and secret seed are valid. Your secret seed will NOT open the wallet until AFTER the coins are deposited, so there is no reason to be concerned. Send us the public address starting with “G”, and save the secret seed in a very safe place.

Distribution Schedule Update
Up to this point, we’ve been processing your token distribution requests as they are received. For the remainder of this week, until Friday November 10th 1500 GMT, we will continue to process all token distribution requests daily, meaning if you send your information today, then as long as all your information is correct and verified, then you should receive your coins tomorrow.

After Friday November 10th 1500 GMT, we will continue to accept token distribution requests, but we will process the transfers twice a week, on Tuesday and Friday.

Currently our global community is scattered between many different online platforms, and our goal is to bring the entire community to one place.
