Dear Thong,

Happy New Year! We have a busy year ahead of us here at Quicken, and I wanted to share with you what we have been doing and what we have planned.

Simplifi by Quicken Launch
This past October, I mentioned that our new personal finance app, Simplifi by Quicken, was in the beta stage of development. Simplifi is a mobile-first product, designed to help young adults develop healthy financial habits. We’ve had thousands of beta testers using Simplifi, and I’m pleased to announce that we’re publicly launching Simplifi today, available on the App Store, on the Google Play Store, and direct from us at simplifimoney.com.

Simplifi by Quicken makes it easy to see all your accounts in one place, stay on top of your spending, and reach your savings goals. Note that it is not intended for existing Quicken customers and, as such, does not read Quicken data files.

If you have family members, such as adult children, who might benefit from a mobile-first app to stay on top of their finances, whether they’re paying down student loans, saving for a home, or working toward any other financial goal, please suggest they take a look at Simplifi by Quicken.

Quicken Product Update
We continue to work hard to improve Quicken.

Mobile

You can now mark transactions as reviewed, set the cleared/reconciled status, create new tags while adding transactions, and create and edit transfer transactions. You can sync assets and liability accounts and your Bill and Income Reminders. If you use the Quicken Credit Card, you can now access the US Bank mobile website from within the Quicken mobile application. And—just released this week—you can now see running account balances for your accounts!

Web
With the Quicken web app, you can mark transactions as reviewed or even do a full reconciliation on the web, and you can now view your synced Bill and Income Reminders.

Windows
On Windows, our recent focus has been on quality, connectivity, and helping new customers get up and running.

On the quality front, we have made scores of fixes and some small enhancements—from improving the Bill Center and One Step Update UI, to adding IRR and Gain % columns to the Capital Gains report, to introducing auto-accept for downloaded investment lots (coming soon!)

For connectivity, we have added in-product notifications so we can let affected groups of customers know about connectivity issues affecting their financial institutions. We have also kicked off two major initiatives continuing into 2020 to update and improve our connectivity services across all Quicken products.

And, as mentioned in my previous letter, we have a major enhancement to Online Bills under development for release in the next few months.

Finally, we’re making it easier for customers to get started with guided “Q card” tours with video help, and (coming soon) an all-new Quicken Setup. In addition to the free phone support that all Quicken customers enjoy, new users can now take advantage of our free Quicken 1-2-3 program and get a personal, phone setup session with one of our customer service agents.

Mac
On Mac, we have made numerous improvements to reports: Cash Flow reporting, enhancements to Summary and Comparison reports, Realized and Unrealized investment gains now included in the Summary report, and new options to control how transfers are handled in reports. More report enhancements are under development for release in 2020.

In addition, we’ve continued to improve Payee renaming rules and have made several enhancements to how you manage your Quicken data. Users tell us that they particularly appreciate the new search and merge options on the Category list.

Quicken Mac is also fully participating in the Online Bills and connectivity initiatives.

Quicken Stories
New in 2020, we’ll be showcasing personal stories from Quicken customers on our blog and social media. To kick things off, I’ve shared my own story. I started using Quicken when I joined Intuit in 1985 and have written about a few of my favorite features and tips.

Nothing makes us happier than hearing from our customers about their favorite features and the positive impact Quicken has had on their lives. If you have a story to tell about how Quicken helped you achieve your financial goals—or if you have some favorite features to share—we’d love to hear from you at [email protected].

As the year unfolds, we’ll continue to share information about how to get the most out of Quicken. In the meantime, if you know people who would benefit from Simplifi by Quicken, whether family or friends, we would appreciate your help spreading the word. Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Eric Dunn
CEO
