Trading open for Cosmos ATOM
On Thursday 25 April, Bitfinex introduced trading for the highly anticipated Cosmos ATOM token.
Trading will be enabled against ETH, BTC and USD with Bitfinex users benefiting from 0% maker-fees for the first 15 days.
What is Cosmos?
Cosmos is an innovative ecosystem, comprising of Blockchains capable of scaling and interoperating with one another. Cosmos is solving the common issue of Blockchain inter-communication, making it possible for them to speak to one another whilst maintaining speed and efficiency.
Cosmos is a decentralized network of independent parallel blockchains, each powered by BFT consensus algorithms like Tendermint consensus.
Using proof of stake, Cosmos and Tendermint are building a highly-scalable and fast consensus protocol whilst simultaneously minimising the resources, time and complexity involved in the construction of blockchain-based applications. To achieve this, Cosmos offer a reliable interface for popular programming languages coupled with a network of parallel blockchains each powered by the consensus protocol.
Why ATOM?
The ATOM token fuels the Cosmos ecosystem by supporting validator transactions. They are also used to pay for transaction fees on the main Cosmos hub and are required to participate in the consensus process.
