Sinkhole exposing pipeline in West Whiteland Township
The following is a press release from the Chester County Department of Emergency Services:
Around 4:30pm today, Chester County 9-1-1 was notified of a sinkhole on a property in the 400 Block of Lisa Drive, West Whiteland Township. West Whiteland Township Police were dispatched and reported a 5 feet wide by 10 feet deep sinkhole and that Sunoco representatives were on location. The Police also reported that the sinkhole was a result of failure of a water drainage system associated with the pipeline. The sinkhole has left the pipeline exposed but undamaged.
“At no time during the incident was there any impact to public safety, no evacuations were ordered, and no injuries reported. The incident has been closed, however, Sunoco and the PUC will continue to investigate,” stated Bill Turner, Deputy Director for Emergency Management, Chester County Department of Emergency Services.
