A friend of mine encountered this issue where is google account which tied to youtube account has some personal family videos uploaded and now the account got hacked and hackers uploaded porn videos. What to do?
First – the mistake was 2FA did not get enabled, if it did then this wouldn’t have happened.
Luckily the account have a forwarding email in which it was notified that some videos was uploaded and some strange activities happened. However sadly the account was hacked and email address and recovered email was changed. Not much can be done here.
Tried the google recovery methods many time but unsuccessful due to incomplete information to recover or for google to determine it’s you trying to recover your account.
The only thing can be done, as last resort is to report those videos immediately to youtube (google) and have it taken down, deleted. Your old family videos will most likely be lost as well because youtube google will probably disable or delete your account eventually because of those porn videos, however if you can somehow contact google or youtube to verify you’re the owner then you may still keep your existing family videos. The chance are however slim, because if you tried to recover your account online and google still cannot able to identify or verified it’s you, then it cannot be done, the account would need to be deleted.
Lesson learn here is that you need to enable your google second authentication whether it’s your phone # sms text or google authentication app on your phone, and don’t loose your phone app. If it’s critical then back up your code by printing it out and put in safebox safeguard from water and fire, just in case one day you loose your phone or damage your phone or change your phone you can recover your account with those printed codes.
